When I was at a wedding a few years back, I fell in love with the dresses worn by the flower girls. The bride made the dresses using strips of iridescent tulle. The effect when the light hit the tulle was breathtaking, especially when contrasted against darkness.
After I started painting these beautiful girls, I realized the girls were really a reflection of me. At heart I am still a child. But more importantly, I am a child of God. And I hope to be a light against the dark.
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

In my Father’s Hands
Oil on canvas, 36″ x 24″ A child should always feel safe and secure in their father’s hands. In this day of Covid-19, I chose to show her father in his scrubs. Even without seeing his face, you can see his love and how protective he is of his little girl. In turn, her childlike […]

Quarantine
Oil on canvas, 36″ x 24″ In this time of separation and quarantine, it is easy to feel alone. To feel forgotten. But there is One who will never forget me. One who will never leave me. “Turn to me and be gracious to me. For I am lonely and afflicted.” (Psalm 25:16 NASB)

Isolation
Oil on canvas, 30″ x 24″ In this time of social distancing, many of us are feeling isolated. Even though I am going to work every day, I come home to a lonely existence with only my cats for company. I try to reach out to others but of course it’s not the same. Virtual […]

Texas Coquette
Oil on canvas, 24″ x 24″ I live in Texas now, so got to have the cowboy boots and hat! But I will always consider myself from New Orleans. However, my true home isn’t Houston or New Orleans. It’s Heaven. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to […]

Timid
Oil on canvas, 12″ x 12″ Many times I am fearful and timid. But I don’t have to remain that way. Even when I am afraid or unsure, I can choose to go forth. To take that first step and follow where He leads. For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but […]

Anticipation
Oil on canvas, 36″ x 48″ Like a child anticipating someplace new, I can look forward to a new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells. But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:13, BSB)

Thoughtful
Oil on Canvas, 12″ x 12″ It is so easy for my thoughts to be scattered all over the place. It’s so much harder to focus on any one thing. Harder, but not impossible. I can choose what I will think on. Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is […]

Coquette
Oil on Canvas, 12″ x 12″ If I flirt with Satan and Christ, life will be filled with disasters, instability and confusion. I must choose to not play the coquette with my spiritual life. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:8, KJV)

Daydreamer
Oil on Canvas, 30″ x 20″ All of my life I have had dreams of what I wanted. Of who I wanted to be. Yet God has bigger plans for me than I can even imagine. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his […]

Content
Oil on Canvas, 12″ x 12″ I can allow my circumstances to define me. To define whether I am happy or dissatisfied. If the Apostle Paul can be content while in jail, chained to his guards, then I can also choose, no matter what, to be content. Not that I speak from want, for I […]

Waiting
Oil on Canvas, 24″ x 24″ I am not the most patient person although I have learned patience. And there’s nothing better to wait for than heaven. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:20, NASB)

Little Coquette
Oil on canvas, 36″ x 36″ In the past, there were times I played the coquette. That all changed when I married. I made the choice to be faithful and not flirt with other men which could have led to temptation. Don’t be tempted by their beauty; don’t be trapped by their flirting eyes. (Proverbs […]

Whispered Secrets
Oil on Canvas, 24″ x 30″ There is nothing better than a good friend that can be told anything. Any secret. I won’t tell if you won’t. A gossip tells everything, but a true friend will keep a secret. (Proverbs 11:13, CEV)

Grand Entrance
Oil on Canvas, 48″ x 30″ What little girl doesn’t like to make a big entrance when she’s dressed up? To show off how beautiful she is? There will come a day when I will make my grand entrance into God’s Kingdom. And I will be beautiful. Then God will give you a grand entrance […]

Look to the Light
Oil on canvas, 24″ x 24″ In the darkest time of deep depression, God is always there. He will deliver me, therefore I can look to the Light. He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light. (Job 33:28, ESV)

Out of the Darkness
Oil on Canvas, 36″ x 18″ In the darkest time of deep depression, God is always there. He will deliver me, therefore I can look to the Light. He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light. (Job 33:28, ESV)

Daydreaming
Oil on Canvas, 40″ x 30″ It is so easy to daydream & think about things that aren’t really, well, real. To daydream about what might have been or what might be. The reality of what God has in store for me is so much better than anything I could imagine. These are a shadow […]

Prayerful
Oil on canvas, 20″ x 20″ Through accepting Christ as my Savior, I have been clothed in His righteousness. Sometime it seems ill-fitting and too big for me to wear las if I’m wearing a big brother’s jacket. But I know that as long as I continue to grow, the jacket will fit better and […]
